1 The Vatican on Wed Jan 19, 2011 8:39 pm

How can this lot still hold such power through the controversy and scandal that's followed them for so long? The latest installment is a leaked document that reveals that Irish priests were warned not to report incidents of child abuse to the local authorities. A joke of the highest order except for the families who've been destroyed by the churches inability to deal with something that was never going away. I'm never setting foot in one of their churches again.

I don't go church anyway and probably never will.

    It doesn't surprise me either.

I'm not up on it too much so can't comment in detail.

It was a joke. Bascially the Vatican were telling Irish priests to shut up and say nothing. Disgraceful.

Christ, I'm watching a documentary about it now. The new Pope was one of the worst for obstructing justice. Crazy stuff.

Yep, facts. They have all the documents.... reading from them. Just a total cover up.

So who's to blame or is it a cover up by the central system or the pope?

The Vatican are to blame for ordering the clergy in Ireland to reveal nothing to the authorities about the abuse that was being carried out by some priests.

Ok, Pope Benedict changed his tune eventually and tried to change the way the Vatican dealt with such cases.
