How can this lot still hold such power through the controversy and scandal that's followed them for so long? The latest installment is a leaked document that reveals that Irish priests were warned not to report incidents of child abuse to the local authorities. A joke of the highest order except for the families who've been destroyed by the churches inability to deal with something that was never going away. I'm never setting foot in one of their churches again.

It was a joke. Bascially the Vatican were telling Irish priests to shut up and say nothing. Disgraceful.

Christ, I'm watching a documentary about it now. The new Pope was one of the worst for obstructing justice. Crazy stuff.

So who's to blame or is it a cover up by the central system or the pope?

The Vatican are to blame for ordering the clergy in Ireland to reveal nothing to the authorities about the abuse that was being carried out by some priests.
