Taken

What's the last film you watched? - Page 3 5430024m

Great thriller. Good action.

Definitely worth a watch.

The scene that sets up the film is very powerful.

In Taken Liam Neeson stars as Bryan, an ex-soldier who is forced to embark on a frantic quest to rescue his daughter (Maggie Grace) after she is abducted by slave traders.

All I can say is, WATCH IT! 433 reviews on play.com with a 5 star rating. For £2.99, for a good film, is nothing.

The Bank Job

What's the last film you watched? - Page 3 5125500m

The Bank Job is a highly-charged heist thriller based upon the infamous 1971 robbery that took place at the Lloyds Bank in Marylebone London.

Starring Jason Statham as Terry, a car dealer with a dodgy past and Saffron Burrows as Martine, the woman with the plan, The Bank Job interweaves corruption, murder and scandal with 1970s England!

When Martine offers Terry a lead on a foolproof bank hit on London's Baker Street, he recognizes the opportunity of a lifetime! The plan: to target a roomful of safe deposit boxes worth millions in cash and jewellery. However Terry and his crew don't realize the boxes also contain a treasure trove of dirty secrets - secrets that will thrust them into a deadly web of corruption and illicit scandal that spans London's criminal underworld, the highest echelons of the British government, and the Royal Family itself.

Good film. Inspired by real events of a bank robbery which happened in the 70s, with a haul valued higher than the Great Train Robbery. Unfortunately, a gagging order was placed on the story and it disappeared until now. Over 30 years later the story is coming to light and exposing a right royal scandal, with the criminals being the most innocent involved in this good film. Another bargain for £2.99 with free delivery.

Blood Diamond really is something else Lee.

So well created. It is a masterpiece. EXCELLENT FILM! Watched it a second time with my mum and she was crying.

Taken was good, but I don't think it hit my expectations. Don't get me wrong, good, but I think I need to probably watch it a few times.

Waste Land. This is a great example of why documentary filmmaking has the ability to contain far more emotion, subtlety and beauty in one single, unscripted frame than an entire Hollywood production can achieve in a single film. I can't really say enough about this story, where we see a world famous Brazilian artist traveling back to Rio to attempt to give something back to the country he came from and to it's most unforunate through art and expression. A remarkable piece, which illustrates that beauty and life can be found anywhere; that art and life are not prejudiced when it comes to who has it, who glows and teams with lfe, even if they live in the filthiest place imaginable.
Beautiful and very touching film. I have to go to Brazil.

Seen a few since I last posted in here.

Eagle Eye - liked it a lot.
Patriot Games - It was OK.
Black Hawk Down - One to watch again. Depressing, but well made and intriguing. Fixed to your seats at points.
The Kingdom - It was OK.
s.w.A.T - Fun and a nice watch.
Cellular - Good, but the plot lacks in places. Kim Basinger strengthens the film.

Insidious. Genuinely frightening film, and I don't scare easy. It goes off on a fairly mad tangent in the final act, but sure I was totally invested in the characters and general mood of the film by that stage that any divergence in formula or rhythm was perfectly acceptable to me. Yep, very impressive horror movie.

The Tourist.

Really enjoyed it and the twist at the end is very unexpected.

My mum thought the start and end were really good, but not so much the middle.

I just really enjoyed it. Very pleasing film.

The Lincoln Lawyer. Not the best Michael Connelly book in the world, but this is a fairly serviceable thriller with Matthew Mcconaughey playing a slick and cocky attorney, just like he did in his breakthrough film. And it's actually his performance that makes the whole thing watchable.... he's very good in these types of roles.

I Am Legend.

Found it very boring. A few good moments, but it ran out of steam and never really went anywhere.

A bloke and his dog for the majority of the film is not entertainment.

Angels and Demons. Ridiculously silly thriller and yet I couldn't help but find it watchable, due in no small part to the fact that it was lovely just to view Rome and remind myself of my time there. Going back this summer again too. Anyway yeah, I'll never watch it again but is was an ok no brainer for a dull Sunday evening or something.

Scarface (1932) Magic. I'll have to watch a few more of Paul Muni's films because the guy had great screen presence.

'Senna'
Incredibly emotional when it gets to his death and funeral.
I was a huge fan of Ayrton, and the film was a real trip down memory lane - plus some great insight into 'the man' (as opposed to the sporting persona)
I was shellshocked when he died - and the film brought it all back.

Will the film will have the same effect on younger people who have only heard about him....? I wonder.....??

Wow, didn't even know they'd made a documentary film about him. I have Brasilian friends and he'll always be one of their nation's greatest heroes. Not a big F1 fan but I'll defo watch that.

Romancing the Stone. Still a very entertaining flick. Hadn't seen in it years and the mad thing about it is that it reconfirms to me that Douglas was actually a really good actor, particularly during this period. And another interesting footnote.... he bought the script for this movie and produced it. He knows a good script: don't forget that he produced One Flew Over the Cuckoo's Nest too.
But yeah, this is pure escapism, and handled very well by Zemeckis. He was allowed to make Back to the Future after the success of this film and the rest is history.

I can't think of the name now. Was on last night with Michael Douglas.

He looked really young in it.

Very slow and dragged out film, but I had to keep watching to see what happened.
